Many years ago I remembered a seasoned traveler telling me to "simplify your life by choosing experiences over stuff." Its only later on in life that began to more fully appreciate what he was trying to tell me. He said a similar thing to me many years later - "photos and memories will mean more to you in the future than trinkets and stuff." I now know what he means.
I love looking at old photos and laughing at old memories that come flooding back. Old pictures (and videos) bring back lots of memories.
The only issue for many people is that photos and memorabilia tend not to be very organised or easy to locate. Old photo tend to deteriorate and gather cobwebs in the cupboard while finding that specific digital photo stored on computer hard drive can be a nightmare.
Capturing images and using them to create a photobook focussed on a specific storyline can have many advantages. Photobooks are wonderful gifts that don't have an expiration date - they remain as treasures of the past.
Buy experiences, not "things".
